SCAHEAD formerly known as SUCCEEDS (South Carolina University & College Council of Educators Empowering Disabled Students) was founded as a non-profit March 31, 1993.
Our Mission Statement: SCAHEAD is an organization of professionals who provide services to students with disabilities at the post-secondary level. We offer a forum for networking and information dissemination locally and statewide, for service providers, licensed professionals, faculty, administrators, secondary educators, students, and the community. The organization is proactive in facilitating initiatives that positively impact students with disabilities.

- To promote awareness of and consistency in the application of best practices to students with disabilities statewide.
- Access and disseminate information through networking with other professionals in order to enhance the opportunities for students with disabilities to successfully accomplish their goals.
- To sponsor activities which focus on topics including legal issues, assistive technology, transitions, documentation, reasonable accommodations and related issues.
- To create educational initiatives for students with disabilities.
